Surprise!!! Jim Turns 30

Well, Jim is turning 30 next week and he and Sarah's anniversary is this week. So, Sarah decided to surprise him with a party. She rented the Panther Room at the Tavern of Fort Mill and had it all planned out. She told him they were going out to dinner for their anniversary. Jessica and I put up the decorations and Jim's mom took care of the cake. Jess and I stood guard on lookout and got everyone quiet when we saw them park. Screams of "Surprise" definitely caught Jim off guard....he had no idea! We all enjoyed the appetizers and the social time, as well as a few drinks. After everyone left, Sarah, Jim, and I headed to Hickory Tavern near Sarah's house to meet Ben, Matt, and Brooke for a few more drinks. It was a fun filled night had by all!!!

A Day at McDowell Nature Preserve

Since the pool was closed today, I had to find something to do with the girls while babysitting. I decided to take them to McDowell Nature Preserve, located just on the North Carolina side of Lake Wylie. We spent some time checking out the nature center, where we got to see live animals and watch the frogs and turtles eat their lunches. We learned about camoflauge, animal tracks, and how to determine the age of trees. We took a hike on a trail before we ate our lunch down by the water. We had to try to avoid the flies in the picnic area....they were really hungry and wanted to eat our lunches. The girls were a bit scared by the flies and kept running from them.

A Night at McHales

Last week, Brigitte and I decided to take a night out to catch up and have a few drinks. We went to McHales, the Irish pub in downtown Rock Hill. The food was really good! In an attempt to keep my bill low, I tried to find a beer that I could actually stand the taste of. Since they didn't have Smirnoff, I had the bartender recommend a beer that wasn't very strong tasting. He suggested a beer called Sunset something, that is served with oranges in it. I had to ask for extra oranges and have him add Sprite to it. It made the taste a bit better, but I still could not handle it.

Welcome to me!!!

Well, I had never really planned to do this but my sister has one and talked me in to trying it. I love being a teacher...especially in the summer time when I can get out and do things, other than hours of school work. I own my home and live with my dog Sasha. She is the absolute best thing that has happened to me in a long while. I look forward to sharing my fun days with you soon!!
